Just watched Sherlock on pbs. Even though I’ve seen it before, my little heart is just racing. I don’t think I can sleep. What fun. But maan I’m going to pay later.
🙂
Hope you all did something for fun today.
Personally I think thats why we’re on this earth. To have a good time.
Fortunately there’s lots of ways. Something for everyone.
Love you.
Rest well.
cat in the sun
I’m not writing much. Think of me napping on the couch, in the sun, like a cat. 😉 napping my life away these days. The sky is glorious here. Still in Eagle Nest where the world is beautiful.
Noel Coward
I’m fond of Noel Coward. This poem seems appropriate for today and my friends.
To L. R-M.
There are certain ladies in our land,
Still living and still unafraid
Whose hearts have known a lot of pain,
Whose eyes have shed so many tears,
Who welcome pity with disdain
And view the fast encroaching years
Humorously and undismayed.
There are certain ladies in our land,
Whose courage is too deeply bred
To merit unreflecting praise,
For them no easy, glib escape;
No mystic hopes confuse their days
They can identify the shape
Of what’s to come, devoid of dread.
There are certain ladies in our land,
Who bring to life the gift of gay
Uncompromising sanity,
The past, for them, is safe and sure.
Perhaps their only vanity
It’s that they know they can endure
The rigours of another day.
~ Noel Coward
plan on vacation
My plan is to stay in the coach “on vacation” for as long as possible. Traveling back only for Dr visits.
So far so good.
nearly home
balloon plans
We just made reservations for the Balloon Fiesta in Albuquerque! Ohboyohboy
The whole thing is october 2-11. We will be there oct 5-8. Hoping Dave’s mom will go with us.
Sewing machines
Yesterday Dave took me out shopping. Saw a sewing machine store so we stopped in.
Its so fun to see new tools. Stuff I didnt know anything about.
I asked as I always do about new machines. And took home a brochure of the latest dream. Its only 16 thousand dollars.
Lol!
Thats more than my first brand new car in 1970.
Dave wants to know what kind of mileage it gets.
Double lol. Its more than my first car by 10 times. Dave corrects my math.
I always ask about sewing machines that hook up to the computer. The idea being that someday you could design it there, then stitch it out. The problem is “digitizing” the pattern. A line drawing such as quilted lines is not so bad, but the fill- stitch density, length etc. Its mostly tedious work. And worth it only if you ‘re going into production of multiples. I want the software to simplify the process
That said, the sewing world isn’t there yet.
Tocabe in Denver
Lunch! At Tocabe. It was great. Dave had bison.
It was a take on native American food. Kinda like Chipotles. Stand in line, choose the base- we had fry bread, add meat – Daves was bison, I was chicken, (hah) then add all sorts of things. Dave had posole, I got a jicama salsa… it was way good and different.
Stopped on the side of the road with fuel line problem. Yes we were in a place clearly marked no parking. But we had no option.
People honking at us, yelling and shaking their fist. Upset because we were inconvenient, and because of their assumptions.
So.
Moral of the story.
Assume people are doing the best they can. And not being “stupid” on purpose.
Happily we are in Denver for a few days
Dave fix. Less than an hour. Replaced a low pressure line.
A case could be made for not driving an older coach that might break down. But where’s the fun in that?
As Dave says: the adventure begins when the plans fall apart
There are some things I want but can’t do. So I plan on doing them “in my next life”.
In my next life I’m going to know you sooner Mr Cobb.
New Mexico
Awake. So I’m talking trash while everyone else sleeps. 😉
We are in New Mexico in a small rv campground. There’s maybe 30 spaces.
Two couples we’ve known forever are also here in their rvs. And then there are about a half dozen other couples here whom we’ve camped with before.
So it’s often like a block party.
There is a square pavilion with tables and chairs and a couple of swings. And a big coffee pot on a timer that turns on at 6:30 in the morning. Making the pavillion a coffee shop. So Dave gets up early for that. People come and go all day. Just enjoying each other. And once a week a potluck dinner.
It’s great because Dave is Mr gregarious and now knows everyone in the park. When someone asks me where Dave is I say oh he’s in “the box” (the pavilion).
Many days a group heads out in their cars exploring the area. Lots of sights and little towns and good food. We stop together and descend on a town like locusts. Everyone going different directions, art galleries, antiques, ice cream. And meet together somewhere for lunch.
It’s a completely different experience for us. We’ve never stayed anywhere for more than a few days. And were here in the same campground for a month.
It’s all is sort of like an inexpensive cruise ship in that we are in our own cabin with our own stuff. And have new and old friends to be with wherever we go.
Meanwhile New Mexico is glorious country. The campground is in a valley with big sky and a lake. Mountains in all directions.
NM evening
Eagle Nest NM.
Here for July
I had a good day. Got to play on a computer to make it happy. And this evening 5 of us in the coach after dinner. Everyone was talking about favorite meals, and comfort food we had as kids. Stuff we don’t have very often these days. I said we are like starved POWs daydreaming about food.
🙂
We do it to ourselves. We are our own jailers.
It is going to be in the 40s tonight. All snuggled in here. Rest well all.
At my cousin’s in New Mexico.
Starting to rain.
Hah!
God loves me!
Texas and rain
It’s crazy rain. But the lakes are full. And I assume we are finally out of the 10+ year drought that was worse than the dust bowl days. Texas does it big.
Hello house
Hello house.
Hello trees.
<she looks longingly> Hello bed.
We haven’t seen the beach yet. I should be ashamed. ;
