Low bp yesterday kept me in the coach.
It’s a shame as it was Saturday, and most things in a tourist town happen on the weekends.
We could hear the guns at the shootout in downtown.
Dave went out briefly to see an auto show. But they were already closing up shop. So he washed the jeep and went to the grocery store for us.
back home, He made us dinner, brats and potato salad and I had icecream for dessert. 🙂
Watched a bit of TV and I was off to bed.
Better day today (bp normal) but I haven’t gotten out of my robe. 🙂
Mostly putting in odds and ends on this blog.
Hopefully I’ll get some balloon fest pictures in soon.
We are binge watching Ice Road truckers today 😉
Haven’t watched TV this whole trip.
As we are leaving for a run to the airport in San Antonio, there’s a team of horses and a wagon on the highway.
Bandera. Cowboy Capital of the world.
It has been a while since I’ve updated Camp Cobb.
Life has been busy.
Stay tuned, as I work my way through and tell you about 2015 in the coach.
Dinner at the OST (Old Spanish Trail)
There’s a John Wayne room
Or you can grab a saddle at the bar
With my mother in law, Elaine. She has a glass of wine every evening. And now I’ve had two! So I just wanted to tell you all I love you so very much. I am the luckiest person I’ve ever known. Thanks for being in my world.
Blame Elaine. Its her fault I’m so rich and wish I could share all this happy.
We are ensconced in a park in Bandera Tx. The cowboy capital! Here for a month!
We are going to look for boots too. This will be fun. If not a bit too hot.
I am spoiled from being in northern New Mexico all “summer” (felt like fall)
Lunch at Heavy’s Bar B Que
Beef, Chicken, Potato salad… It was plenty for several meals
Oldest winery in Texas. It was surprising, located in a neighborhood.
Dolly tried their port, pronounced it most excellent – got one for her and one for Vince. We couldn’t be traveling without his help checking on the house.
Elaine got a couple bottles of a white, Muscat seco. Good crisp, tastes of pear, not too sweet.
At Judge Roy Bean’s saloon
It was surprising. The plantings were wonderful.
At Langtry there is a road runner greeting us from the plantings in front of the tourist center
He is camera shy and runs around the plants
So there is a little place on the Rio Grande, where we can get on a boat to go across to Mexico. Take a burro ride into town. And have a cerveza.
I can’t wait to see my mother in law on a burro.
Go donkey go.
Well we drove to the new crossing. And there’s no way I could do it anyway. Used to you drove to the rivers edge. Now you have to walk through a govt building and gate and down a trail.
They took away the romance.
As governments are prone to do. 😉
Too late in the day.
And low bp. So no ride for me. But look up Boquillas del Carmen. It would be fun.
Star party success at McDonald observatory. No moon. Clear skies. The lecture on constellations was fun. If I had taken notes i might remember some of it. 😉
And I saw Saturn through a telescope.
And some other stuff.
But I saw Saturn!
We all are getting this fortune lately
And we’re taking it seriously. 🙂
late afternoon at Balmorhea state park, there’s been a bit of rain lately
Hugh swimming pool fed by the spring. So you can swim with the fishes.
Carlsbad caverns this morning.
The whole time in Carlsbad caverns I’m thinking: home, this is my home as Gollum. Cool, dark, All sorts of hiding places. And big enough for the whole of middle earth.
It is magical even without weirdness going on in your head. Go see if you can.
Checking in at the Balloon Fiesta!
So I couldn’t sleep last night thinking up earrings.
kites, I could lash together toothpicks…
hot air balloons, tiny baskets.
a moon with a cow jumping over it, but not two so the other would be a streamer of stars
Little cuckoo clocks. like from a dollhouse. With two I could set one at local time, one at gmt…
Oh dear. Those are a signature piece.
Dolly is quite cuckoo in her own right.
So at dinner I found myself wondering how I could make earrings out of the potato chips.
Potato chips have such neat shapes you know. All different and the same. An oval flexed then torqued. There’s probably a name for that shape.
I could make it with a bit of wire and some silk.
I was thinking of light weight things. Just thought of – Popcorn. Maybe for Christmas I’ll string popcorn from ear to ear.
